While the devastation of the Pacific Hockey League not continuing in 2023 is sinking in, there has also been time for reflection.

Thank you is not enough to describe our feelings toward everyone who made the 2022 season the success it was. In this short time, PHL created a positive impact for the growth of ice hockey in Australia.

We would like to say how proud we are of what was achieved in one season of hockey. We proved ourselves as a club, hosting high quality games with an amazing atmosphere, in a rink built for hockey. Everyone from our volunteers to our iceHQ staff, you are all superstars.

Our playing group was one of the most bonded teams we have witnessed in sport. The friendships created will be lasting. We feel for the players who may choose not to continue their careers, and wish nothing but the best for those continuing.

The Ducks fans are THE BEST. From seasoned hockey lovers to the many first timers. You were loud and proud. For the fans who found us and the players who love playing here, we will continue to work toward having an elite team who calls iceHQ home.

We will continue our commitment to develop the next generation of ice hockey in Melbourne, with our Icehq Ducks junior teams.

Until we quack together again.

The Melbourne Ducks are a semi-professional ice hockey team playing out of iceHQ (Melbourne) and competing in the Pacific Hockey League.

Featuring a number of past and present AIHL players - alongside IHV Prem. A and international talent - the Melbourne Ducks will be a foundational part of the Pacific Hockey League from season 2022 and beyond.

Our History

In 2021, the Melbourne Ducks formed with the intention of fielding a team in the AIHL.

After hosting two successful games against the Melbourne Ice in May 2021 - with the Ducks and Ice both taking a win each - an invitation to join the AIHL was not forthcoming.

Fast forward to February 2022 and the rise of the Pacific Hockey League provided the Ducks with an opportunity to take flight!
